Hi Reddit!

My name is Breeda Wool. I'm from Urbana, Illinois and started my acting debut in Tinkerbell of all things. I did some short films in college and moved to New York City to pursue my passion of acting into a career.

I've done theater, sketch comedy, and an avant-garde dance movement - and then I moved to LA! I've had some roles on Weeds, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I was also cast in Amazon's web series Betas in 2013, and a feature film AWOL which premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival.

I also starred in the hit and critically-acclaimed series UnREAL. The first season premiered at SXSW and aired on Lifetime. Created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Shapiro, UnREAL gives a behind-the- scenes look at the chaos surrounding the production of a dating competition program. I play Faith DeLuth a young woman from Mississippi who competes on the show called Everlasting. The show was nominated for Best Drama Series with the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards and honored as one of AFI's TV Programs of the Year. The star-studded cast also includes Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby. My character Faith has been noticed as the standout from the UnREAL ensemble cast with fans and critics alike. I can currently be seen as the star of Faith's own 10-episode digital spinoff, The Faith Diaries, which chronicles Faith’s journey with her friend and potential love interest Amy to Los Angeles. The entire series is available now on MyLifetime.com. I can also be seen in the films, Automatic at Sea, and Erasing Eden.

Thanks for doing an AMA! What's the story behind using a rubber duck in your promotion videos for the blind.ness production by WaxFactory?

RealBreedaWool8 karma

Hahaha. I made that video in my back yard with an I Phone and a go pro. Blind.Ness was a play I did in New York and Slovenia where I was a degenerating doll. A sort of deteriorating "perfect woman", the rubber ducky could have been a symbol of the fakeness, or something that was just lying around, can't quite remember.

tuckerbox224 karma

Loved UnREAL, and looking forward to AWOL. Given your role in each, the lesbian folk are obviously fangirling for you. If you believe the assumption that everyone is just a littttle bit gay, what % would you assign yourself?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

Im basically trying to make out with everyone in the world. I'm one part gay, one part straight, one part wild animal.

courtiebabe4202 karma

How did you decide to get involved in your first show Tinkerbell?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

I was always dancing around and putting on plays as a kid. My adult profession is a total extension of my childhood game. So I think for tinkerbell my mom took me to this local college's summer rep. My death scene was really dramatic as tinkerbell, I was really into horror movies and made it really intense.

mrsn32 karma

If you had to defeat a man with just one hit, what would you do???

RealBreedaWool4 karma

probably smack his balls.

mrsn32 karma

Don't smack em!

RealBreedaWool4 karma

I'm pretty sure its the best way to defeat a man with one hit. Its like a built in break down button. But I've never done it. Don't worry.

isahammyasandy2 karma

Hi Breeda, I actually bumped into you outside of Hole in the Wall Burger when I was out in LA and you were so nice! Really made my day that you stopped and spoke to me. I doubt you remember but I asked you this then, but you didn't really have an answer so I figured I'd give it another shot.

Is a hamburger a sandwich?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

Was this in Larchmont? If this is the lady from Larchmont then I remember vividly, if not, then I can just implant you in that memory later. My answer to your question that has been lingering for far too long is, NO, a hamburger is not a sandwich. As long as the word Panini exists, hamburger is still really far away from sandwich.

isahammyasandy1 karma

No, we actually never met, I made that up hoping it would get you to answer the question... Which you did! so thanks!

I would now like to hear your story about the woman in Larchmont though...

RealBreedaWool5 karma

Too late, I've already implanted you in that memory.

harry50502 karma

if u had a character in a down and dirty mortal kombat-style fighting game, what fighting moves would you have?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

I'd have a move where I turn in to sunshine and give everyone really bad sunburns. You can only counter battle it if you know the sunblock move.

jamhands7502 karma

What is your favorite place to hang out in Urbana? Any bars or restaurants you think the locals (and college kids!) should check out?!

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Oh goodness!! You know what, I moved when I was about 13, so the only place I would drink at that point was boonsfarm in the park. If you goto Karl park, you might find some high school kids smoking joints and drinking stolen beers in the pavilion. That's where I used to party.

best dive bar on each coast?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

Mars Bar in the east village was one of my favorite dives. I heard it closed thought after I moved to LA. Basically everything in New York seems to go through cycles. I also used to love The Irish Rose by the staten Island ferry in new york.

[deleted]2 karma

Why is my question the only one being ignored!?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

hmmmm. I don't see your other question. But look, the question about a question didn't get ignored.

[deleted]0 karma

I asked if you are going to do a GoneWild post after this? :) and ignore the I hate you Breeda Wool comment. I didn't mean it I swear!

RealBreedaWool3 karma

I am. I have a whole GoneWild series on the dark internet. Every afternoon I go to a public cafe and flash people. Its like my morning coffee.

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Hi AMA crew! I'm signing off. This was so fun, thank you for coming out and asking me anything! Hope to see you on the internet again soon!

AlexatRF211 karma

What's your favorite burger?

RealBreedaWool1 karma

Veggie burger with lots of cheese and onions and mushrooms on a brioche bun. dang wish I had one of those right now!

courtiebabe4201 karma

How did you get started with unREAL and what was your reaction like when they gave you a spin-off as well?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Barbara Fiorintino brought me in for a casting. She's this very cool casting director in LA who has supported me a lot since I've been on the west coast. When I heard about the spinoff I felt honored and excited and like I had a lot of work to do. And then when I read the script I felt like I needed to be in service to the important story Sarah Shapiro had created.

girlnextdorm1 karma

Hi, Breeda! I was just wondering what tips you've got for someone college aged and looking to act/write, be creative. Were you really discouraged at times after college and did you have to take a side job to pay rent?

RealBreedaWool1 karma

What I did after college was I made profiles on actorsaccess, LA casting and NY casting, and backstage. I applied every single day to all of them. I also used to go to union theater calls before I was union and sign up super early in the morning and wait to see if I could be seen. I found out who was casting what shows and then see how I could meet those casting directors. I hustled a lot right out of college. I started doing lots of off broadway theater and also worked for a theater company as a day job so I could learn as well.

tuckerbox221 karma

What was it like to film AWOL for a 2nd turn? How do you think your maturation as an actress between the short/long impacted your role?

RealBreedaWool1 karma

You know what? I was really worried about that when I went back to make the second round. We made the first half of the feature film, and then the second half two and a half years later. So I just tried to focus on the story as best I could and hoped that it would all glue together in the end. Apparently being in love with "Joey" stuck around longer than I had remembered. Its kind of like an impactful dream. It stays with you, marinates.

nirvan1 karma

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Nirvan!!!!!!! I love you!!!!!!

thrillmurray6661 karma

You cut your hair! It looks good. What made you do decide to cut your hair?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Thanks!!! I had wanted to do it for a while, but I kept thinking long hair would be better for my job. I follow Lele Pons on vine and I was watching her funny videos last week, and all the girls have this super long glamorous hair, and I thought, eh, that ain't me, and I chopped it all off.

When I type in Breeda Wool nude on Google, google asks if I meant Deborah Ann Wool? How do you feel about Google thinking we would rather see Deborah Ann Woll nude over you?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

I mean....... that woman is pretty amazing. Google might be onto something. When I type in cheesecakefart nude on google a picture of me comes up which is weird.

suaveitguy1 karma

Any good advice from Jody Hill and Danny McBride?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

Don't hold back and be ready to get weird.

laurytrushtrush1 karma

UnReal is such an incredible show and you were one of my favorite characters! What was it like to film and, specifically, to play Faith?

RealBreedaWool1 karma

It was so wonderful actually!!! I loved being in canada. The whole cast and production team was incredible. I'm still very close with a lot of people from that show. Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby are wildly supportive and creative women. I think Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro made a smart and radically new show, I could feel that while we were making it.

zoostation50001 karma

Who is your favorite Muppet? I need to know.

RealBreedaWool1 karma

ANIMAL!!!!

therealandrew1 karma

Thank you for doing this AMA What is your biggest source of inspiration?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

I think History is my biggest inspiration. I become enthralled with ancient cultures. It always reminds me of the constructions of our present day culture. How much we're making it up as we go along.

LoathsomeSal1 karma

What do you think about mandatory retirement ages for judges?

RealBreedaWool3 karma

I think mandatory retirement is wrong in any profession. Agism is not something this country is sensitive to enough at all. That being said I do wish there were limits on the stayability of supreme court judges. I wish the courts were less politicized. I believe there's major problems with our justice system, its a good one, but it needs fixing.

vedder441 karma

what 5 things would u try to experience if u could be the opposite gender for a day?

RealBreedaWool2 karma

ummmmm 1) sex, 2)walking down dark alleys alone at night, 3)be president, 4) show random people at bus stops my wiener, 5) alpha dog a bunch of other men at bars.

Which Catino is your favorite Catino? Be honest.

There's this guy who lives in a dome, I spy on him while he showers a lot. He's my favorite.
