Work in worker's comp, it's definitely reported and all his medical treatment is covered, then in the end he'll get a big settlement based on the final rating (% of functionality lost) the doctor gives on his arm, and the settlement is generally based on his wage and how many more years before retirement.
Lawyer is most likely a given, especially since such an expensive case would cause the insurance company to get defense counsel immediately. They get a % of the rating
