Carbohydrates, sodium, potassium, water. All of these are going to be dependent on how long you're running of course, and also on the weather conditions.

Most important for recovery after exercise. I've read a little about the benefits of taking in protein during ultra distance events, mostly for satiety (same with fats). Unfortunately I don't have any sources readily available.

I grew up in Salem in the 90s and I remember major tourism in Sep-Oct every year. Can't speak to anything prior to this though.
