Curious about your thoughts regarding my response here. I'm a civil engineering graduate, not specialized in construction, but with some understanding of the concepts. There are all sorts of applications involving thermal masses. The main problem as I see it is efficiently regulating and controlling heat output. Too hot, and you have to vent the room. Too cool, and the rate the room loses heat will exceed the input. There is little you can do to control a large thermal mass once it's saturated but let it cool down.

I think there must be a place for systems like this surely, but it's hardly the smoking gun solution to the wider problem of CO2 emissions (residential emissions are also only 20% of the problem of which heating is itself a smaller percentage).
