It's also very important to bear in mind that while OP's explanation of "gender is a social construct" is very good, you've got to remember the other part he mentioned: certain behaviours/tendencies, which might otherwise get mixed in with "gender identity", are down to biological male/female differences.

The phrase "gender is a social construct" being true doesn't mean that zero of a person's behaviours/tendencies arise from their biological sex, it just means that some of them come from societal constructs.

Now if we were taking these terms literally and using their current "cutting edge" definitions we might decide that "trans-sex" would be a more useful term than "trans-gender", idk. But the term as it stands, derives from a time before notions of gender were widely considered to be anything other than synonymous with biological sex. It's only more recently that a distinction has been made, and made it in to the wider public consciousness. So that might explain the slight disparity in the naming convention.

It will be gamified if it ever becomes relevant. Do these true believers seriously think that the assorted armies of sockpuppets/bots/paid shills/brainwashed shills/"reputation management" firms aren't a few simple protocol steps away from also being able to poison this particular well?

I'd even argue that the more rigid structures you put in place, the easier the astroturfing task becomes. No longer do you need to post loads of seemingly-good content to spread your propoganda, now you just need one and enough fake accounts to get it voted the right way. Centralising this just makes the nefarious actors' lives easier.
