He declared that Trump should stay in office and use the military to stay if voted out.

Shit, he actually said this out loud? On the news? I mean, we all feared that's what T_D and co think, but I didn't realize their ilk would be brazen enough to say so on television just yet. That's utter insanity.

This is extremely dangerous to our democracy, indeed.

That's a shame. Anyone who is serving me (in any capacity) deserves my utmost respect and gratitude. It boggles my mind that that isn't the more common approach. I'm no saint, by any means, but I feel like you have to be a special kind of asshole to look down upon or treat with indignation someone whose job it is to make sure you are safe and comfortable.

I've seen flight attendants do wonderful things for people over the years flying - taking extra care when someone is feeling ill, talking with visibly nervous people to reassure them, helping parents overwhelmed by their kids on a flight by distracting them with cookies and other goodies (okay maybe that was for all of our sake's), etc.

Twice a flight attendant has saved my day. The first time, I was 15 and I was taking my first flight by myself. Unfortunately, I showed up to the airport way too late and missed my plane - 2 hours from home. Spent hours alone at an airport waiting on standby and at some point a flight attendant who was going to fly home on the next flight out gave up her seat for me since there just weren't any available and the next flight was going to be over 5 hours later.

The second time, I had boarded a morning flight after making the extremely irresponsible decision to drink beyond heavily the entire night before. I was both drunk and hungover at the same time by the time I got to the airport. This amazing male flight attendant realized immediately (likely because my breath was a fire hazard) and brought me little bottle after little bottle of water and all the coffee I could muster for the duration of the flight. He even procured me some advil from another passenger since he said he couldn't give me any himself but could ask other passengers on my behalf if they had any. I managed to show up to my destination sober with actual brain function thanks to that amazing man.

So yeah, you guys rock, and even if you are just considered glorified servers by most who have no idea what you do behind the scenes.. your lot are some of the best fucking servers ever, period. Plus, you never get too mad when I get up to use the restroom right as the seatbelt light comes on. I'm sorry! It's like my bladder is just tuned to the damn thing!

As someone often critical of police action from the safety of my computer screen, I'm really happy to see these types of steps being taken. I feel strongly that police departments need to become part of the community rather than being seen as a separate entity, often one viewed with distrust and as, perhaps, the enemy in some cases.

Is there a way for ordinary citizens to help? Especially for those of us not involved in these types of communities? Charities or organizations that promote this type of thing, etc?

You've had a chance to see the intimate lives of many different familial units. All families seem to have their quirks - that thing that as a kid you suddenly realize is weird when you go to someone else's house for dinner or some other event. What are some of the more interesting familial quirks you ran into?
