Kind of... The real big incident was with the movie Antz— Dreamworks announced it was making its own animated, anthropomorphic ant movie after it was already known that Pixar was working on A Bug's Life, and then released it the month before A Bug's Life, making Pixar's look like the knock-off. There was a big public feud and Steve Jobs was furious, though the Dreamworks guys continue to claim that it was a total coincidence.

Similarly, Finding Nemo (Pixar), an animated movie with talking fish and sharks, came out in 2003, and Shark Tale (Dreamworks), another animated talking fish movie, came out less than a year later. It's more of a '90s reputation, though, since all the Shrek and Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar stuff don't have Pixar equivalents.

EDIT: I have gotten over a dozen responses of people telling me whether they liked A Bug's Life or Antz better.

I'd imagine many redditors (myself included) didn't remember the name of the island and could've skipped over it. :/

Not OP, but I use GIMP, Photopea, and photoshop. GIMP's biggest weak spot is not having nondestructive filters, everything else is good. Like, in photoshop and photopea, I can add a curves adjustment above a folder, or have it apply to just one layer, adjust its opacity, etc. Later on I can change the parameters or move it to another place in the layer stack. I can do all my work under it, toggle it on and off, etc.

In GIMP, you have to apply a curves adjustment on a single layer, and then, it's applied, you can't edit it again later. You have to get in the habit of duplicating the base versions of any layers without adjustments in case you want to make changes later, and can't do any of the above. You have to duplicate layer groups / folders, and apply those adjustments to a flattened copy. Not a great habit/workflow.

I love you too. So much. Every elephant game so far has been a work of genius.

How/when did you get started in Flash? What was your very first game or animation like?

The US should adopt: Roundabouts

Nonono, please, no more. We have like, ten of them, and no one knows how to use them properly so they just slow things down and cause accidents.
