Pretty much all of the big ones are state controlled. It's impossible to generate revenue in Russia operating mass media while being in the opposition to the government (which equals Putin and his friends). Any opposition media will sink in a swamp of litigations, which the government will always win. The largest opposition radio/web news media in Russia, Echo of Moscow, is actually owned by Gasprom (pretty much government). The only thing that makes it oppositional is more degrees of freedom they receive from the government. The chief editor of Echo of Moscow, Alexei Venediktov sometimes travels with Putin on his visits to Western countries. He is like a pocket opposition journalist. He tries to be as respectful to Putin as possible in order to not piss him off personally, but he allows his journalists and guests be more harsh on Putin and the government

I would say Russian violence against "black" is not a violence against real black. They call Muslim people "black". These "black" people are predominantly from Caucasian region, with whom Russians had high tensions since Russia conquered them centuries ago. There is plenty of violence both ways. Real black people usually don't suffer from this kind of violence. The only thing you shouldn't do in the open is hanging out with Russian ladies (if you are a guy), and you'll be safe.

I did not talk about the numbers. Please pay attention to what I write. I compared only technologically, and there is a good reason for this. In Russo-Georgian War in 2008 the casualties on both sides were not strikingly different, despite the fact that Georgia is much smaller than Ukraine population-wise (4.6 mil vs 40 mil), more poor, and did not have significant military industry, so it had to import most of its military equipment, the most advanced of which was from Ukraine.

Dash cams are insanely popular in Russia, that's why there are so many dash cam videos on youtube are from there. It is puzzling to me why people in US don't install dash cams in their cars as much - with bad cops giving phoney tickets just to satisfy their monthly quota, and with so many shitty drivers around, whom you could punish by sending video to police.

In this light, what's your opinion on pickup artists? This is a big international culture despite all the negativity surrounding them. I used to hang out with Cuisine (years ago) - balding small man in his late thirties, and his ability to charm women was out of this world
