Even Top Chef is on the downslope. They used to give the cooks hours to prepare perfect plates, and you really got a good sense of a cook's vision as well as technique. Now they have 15 minutes to jerk off a corporate sponsor's esoteric ingredient or implement, or 2 hours to cater a party for 500 people (which party is inevitably some advertising event or function of the friends of the show's producers, basically an excuse for free catering).
