High school custodian here; after my first year, and filling a gallon bucket with pens and pencils, I started just throwing them all away.

As a high school janitor, I can safely agree that the girls restroom is twice as bad as the men's. They shred toilet paper and paper towels for no reason, tampons and pads don't always make it into the disposal boxes, and the smell can be shocking at times... Even with timed deodorant sprays.
