I loved Alan Moore's response to Miller's anti-Occupy rant.

“I’m sure if it had been a bunch of young, sociopathic vigilantes with Batman make-up on their faces, he’d be more in favor of it. We would definitely have to agree to differ on that one.”

Kidnapping Lois for bait looks great on paper, but has a terrible track record.

Or, if that sounds too lofty and daunting, just help spread reddit to your friends.

So to use reddit you have to have FRIENDS now?

I don't like these changes. Not one bit.

Something we should all keep in mind in the wake of the Boston bombings. The American military is responsible for far, far more civilian deaths than all terrorist attacks on our country combined. Orders of magnitude more.

As citizens, we don't want to be judged for deaths our nation-state has caused. We should remember that more as xenophobia rises for those of Muslim or Middle Eastern background. Treat others as you wish to be treated and all that.

EDIT:

Some people seem to think I'm knocking individual members of our military. I'm not. I have lots of family who have served or are serving. But we should realize that, as a country, the US is responsible for a ton of civilian deaths.

People sometimes "excuse" those deaths by saying that war always has casualties. This is true... but the whole concept of "war" is somewhat arbitrary. I think we've had very, very few "justified" wars in recent decades. And even when they are justified, it doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge and mourn civilian deaths, empathize with those who have died due to our actions.

Even if we'd do the exact same thing given the choice again, it doesn't mean we should try to excuse the US from the burden or responsibility for civilian deaths.

And it should give us a renewed sense of trying to embrace others who happen to share some aspect (ethnicity, nationality, religion) with terrorists that have attacked us. Just because someone is a Muslim, that doesn't mean they're out to get us. Just because someone's Chinese doesn't mean they're some yellow peril phantom out to economically subjugate the US. Just because I'm an American, that doesn't mean I celebrate the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, or wish harm on any of the people there.

But... why would Superman follow away from the sun? That's like saying Aquaman could beat someone up by diving into the ocean. The person he's fighting could just as easily be like "Well, he swam away, guess that makes me the winner."

Then Aquaman would get another notch in the "loss" column and wonder why he only has fish for friends.
