Russia's prime justification for this war seems to be to protect their borders from invasion. Who in their right mind would want to invade Russia? It would be an insanely costly in both lives and treasure and would likely lead to at least a limited nuclear conflict. I constantly see "experts" in the media acting like this is a fair concern for Putin, when there is almost no possibility of it occurring. Do you feel the sympathy some are displaying for Russia in this regard is valid, or just the media trying to appear balanced?

Have you seen any lasting affects of fire retardant used on landscapes in soil or water quality?

Apple and oranges IMO. Russia had no nuclear deterrent to keep Germany from invading. NATO, not only has to face that deterrent, but the shear financial weight of such a war, likely trillions. Is Russian oil worth trillions?...Maybe over 100 years, but even then oil demand has already peaked and Russia doesn't really have anything else save maybe timber and rare earth metals, most of which can be secured from other countries. NO ONE wants to invade Russia, the best case scenario for NATO would be for Russia to transform its government into a functioning democracy, also highly unlikely. I think Putin knows his days are numbered and his motivation was nothing more than the grand delusions of a sociopath.

The reason NATO put troops at the border in the first place was a response to Russian aggression in Georgia, Ukraine and elsewhere, Putin just annexed Crimea remember? To claim he has any justification for this war is madness.
