Shoved in hot would be better, it would fuck your nerves all the way up and while it wouldn't be painless, I bet they'd be less effective at transmitting pain signals. The slowly heating one would preserve your nerves for longer so the pain signals would last longer.

want to be helpful just not when it comes to their own space.

I'm 32 and I'm still waiting for that to fade.

To dispose of leftover cooking grease, I line a regular bowl (from my normal tableware dish set) with foil (I don't press the foil firmly to the bottom of the bowl, I just make a decent-sized dip in the center and fold the foil tightly down around the top rim, so there is some air space between most of the foil and the bowl itself to insulate the bowl from the hot grease). I pour the grease in that, which is easy because the mouth of the bowl is very wide, then I let the grease cool completely (often overnight). The next morning I pick up the edges of the foil, hold it over the trash can and clump the top of the foil together to make like a hobo pouch, then toss it in the trash. In most cases, the grease/fat is fully solid. In some cases the bottom layer in the foil is still liquid, so that is why I put it over the trash can when I make my hobo pouch. If you're very concerned about your trash bag leaking, you can double up on foil. Always make sure the grease is completely cooled before putting in the trash, though, or it can potentially melt your trash bag and make a colossal mess.

For any grease buildup or residue left on the dishes from the meal or from cooking, I wipe off as much as I can with paper towels and chuck those in the trash then I wash the dishes normally.

I get engineering or coding, but is geology a particularly promising field right now for some reason? (Fracking and geothermal energy, I can see, but are those big enough to generate that much more demand for geologists than normal?)
