Do you mean this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eLocrnmVy0

The one published by Voice of America?

The one obtained from the US government? The one where the only person behind bars is the person who brought it to the world's attention?

Or do you mean some other video of US forces attacking journalists?

There are engineers who have worked on truly heinous projects but who have either convinced themselves that it didn't matter, or who were in favour of the end goal.

Where do you sit on the spectrum? - Is it a great way to make money, but it's harmless? Or, - Is it an affront to humanity?

Or do you have some third pov, and if so, what is it?

Crime happens in those places too.

I've lived a bunch of places in the world, and I observe that you pay one way or the other: you either pay higher taxes and distribute that money to people so that they don't have to commit property crime, or you pay through fear and being the victim of property crime. It's because this kind of crime is driven by need - people needing food or money - poverty and/or need to buy drugs most usually.

It's a choice each society makes. With each choice comes a bunch of add-ons... when you are redistributing wealth, you need a bigger government to do it, and you will have people who abuse the system of help. On the other hand if you don't support people in whatever need, they will be forced to turn to crime and for some people that becomes a way of life, with crime begetting crime. So some societies spiral into a worse and worse state.

But there are other sorts of crimes too, which happen less or more depending on other aspects of the way a society is structured. Crime is cultural.

I should first say that I am not a supporter of the death penalty - I think it's barbaric.

But I acknowledge that there are people who support it, even when they are directly involved... Yesterday the father of a man murdered in Afghanistan put the murderer to death in the first Taliban public execution since taking power again. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/dec/07/taliban-carry-out-first-public-execution-since-taking-over-afghanistan-last-year

It would be interesting to know if that father still supports the death penalty today.

Really interesting stuff!

Do you think you'll be able to penetrate human brains deeply? Do you use interference waves? And will the power needed for larger brains be likely to cause collateral damage? How well can you target? What feedback mechanisms can you use to show the effectiveness of a 'dose' of ultrasound?

So many questions!
