I am not sure if you're comfortable answering more questions, but I think the AMA is over at this point, and I welcome any answers I may get.

SO, I am a man that grew up in a superliberal environment- it is definitely counted among the top gay communities. I grew up mostly without a dad, seeing men and women in an environment where something like a female contractor was pretty commonplace, so I have little social context or concern for gender roles. I tend to treat people pretty evenly.

Since leaving home, I have had a much easier time talking to and relating to women than I do men, and my aversions to talking about sports or objectifying women often causes me to be perceived as gay among my male peers. There are still other things that I do that are distinctly hetero male, like sizing up other men as opponents.

My first question is this- Do you think your perception of your gender is influenced by social gender norms? If you had been raised without any emphasis on "This is FEMALE" and "This is MALE" that you would feel the same way about yourself?

ALSO, during an interview on NPR, I read of a FtoM transition where he was startled to experience being "a man" and the way that men regard each other, for example, we do often strange, aggressive things to assert dominance over other males, as weird as forcing the other to get out of our way on the sidewalk, no matter how wide. Have you experienced anything like this? Do you feel compelled to do anything like this that you think is distinctly male?
