What advice would you give to students who want to pursue careers in legal journalism?

All of these problems would be solved by an informed public with access to transparent information (likely via the Internet and/or an effective press). The free market would regulate those who abuse the environment or exploit individuals.

However, the question isn't only "How would libertarianism ensure ethical business?"

It's "Does government (and in America, mostly federal government) do a better job regulating business than the free people could on their own?" Obviously America is currently rife with companies that abuse the environment and people. Many of those companies even receive tax subsides.

Public perception is a more powerful force than any government regulation. When the government assumed responsibility for protecting us from unethical business, we largely surrendered that power. The federal government has been incredibly ineffective as business police. An informed public can (and has) do a much better job, for cheaper, and without sacrificing rights.
