Second to last story gave me chills and broke my heart for that man.

Also, "be as you are with a smile" might be my new favorite phrase.

I'm fascinated with the concept that people who are in their 90s have lived through so many changes, so many historical events. I wish I had a majillion grandparents so I could hear all of their stories.

What kills me is when she's stacking the measuring cups to put them away and she can remember WHERE she has set them all over the table. Jesus, I set one thing down and I can't remember where I put it 30 seconds later AND I CAN SEE. Your mother is amazing!

I was in high school, and just about to walk out the door to catch the bus when my dad called home and told my mom, who shouted at us on our way out the door. We told the bus driver, who turned on the radio, and we listened to the news until we got to school.

I had woodshop first that day, and they just rolled in TV's so we could watch. All day.
