Not going to the doctor out of fear for your job

Yep. Good friend is a controller and this fear is real. It really sucks because I've watched him deal with shit that could've easily been prevented, but he didn't want to risk going to the doc because of the small chance they might find something that would make him ineligible to do his job.

lodging + food I would imagine add up pretty quick. Looking at the bike he rides, I don't see a lot of options for storage so it doesn't look like he would be able to pack a tent, etc.

As a follow up, what can I do to deter bears from rummaging through my trash and hanging out near my house? I keep my trash in the garage and only put it out on trash day but the freakin bears must know what day that is because they magically show up right after the van goes to the road.

I also left my garage open one Saturday while I was doing some yard work. Went in for a quick snack, came back out and found a bear in my garage about 3 feet away from me. No garbage or food in the garage that time, so I guess they were just searching indiscriminately. I have a young child and having bears in such proximity makes me nervous.

The whole neighborhood has these sorts of issues (frequent topic at HOA meeting), and it’s not like we’re remote or in the middle of wilderness. There are probably 400 homes in our subdivision and we’re right next to a pretty busy elementary school.

If you already have a young child (6yo boy in my case), would it be appropriate to include them in activities with your Little, or is intended to be more one on one interaction?

Are the kids BBBS is looking to match foster children , only-children with no siblings, just regular children with "normal" families, or a mix? BBBS says it's mission is to help children facing adversity, I'm just trying to better understand what types of adversity that might be.
