I agree with you. My parents buy in so hard to the ridiculous conservative rhetoric due to religion, etc. and I caught my dad muttering to himself that he kind of likes Bernie while we were watching a debate. Saying anything good about a democrat in my parents house is basically heresy, so I was absolutely stunned.
