What’s your opinion on his more clinical assessments of his experience? Do you think his extensive use of psychedelics tainted his assessment?

Do you believe that the sorry state of rhetoric in the US is related to the trends in speech and debate competitions? As in, does the rise of the gish gallop and other strategies as a way to win competitions squeeze out the need for eloquence?

As a related question, is there still a need for political eloquence or has mass media and reduced attention from the public changed the landscape enough that we should be focused on other aspects of communication rather than an eloquent speech?
