My mistake, I misread.

Perhaps it's the same type of mental illness that causes someone to ask a vegan what their favorite type of meat is.

Hi afterthefire1. Not OP, but it is my understanding that the chicken in the photo is a rescue and lives at a sanctuary. Chickens have the capacity to be very friendly and loving, and looks quite happy in her lap. I would think that this has nothing to do with advancing her career---rather, it is moreso to bring attention to an issue that most people don't know much about. If she wasn't on that magazine cover, or doing this AMA for example, more people would be kept in the dark about how their food is produced---and all of the abuse and cruelty that go into it. I, for one, thank her for her courage in not only doing the work she did, but for being able to talk about it publicly.

Well, if your question is, "why does she wear make-up". My answer would be that maybe she likes to wear make-up---like a vast majority of people in the world. I'm willing to bet the make-up is cruelty-free, so I'm not seeing a problem with it.

You've pretty much already answered your second question. "Why is she in front of the cameras"...for those stories, magazines, and tv shows that you already said is fine and helps get the word out. There really wouldn't be any magazines or tv shows without cameras, would there?

I would say this has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to be in front of the camera---she chose to be the one BEHIND the camera, and in doing so, chose the anonymity that went with it. This is to help animals, not her.

Not OP, but she worked for Compassion Over Killing. It looks like they are hiring investigators--they have a posting on their website: http://cok.net/jobs/
