Hi Kerry, I don't know if you will get to this particular comment but I am very interested in your story and I have enjoyed reading your responses. I watched a youtube video about you and in it you said something to the effect that you weren't brave, you simply had no choice but to keep on plugging on. That really resonates with me. My question for you is, how did continue to work after being disabled? I feel like being disabled makes someone extremely vulnerable in the workplace as far as even getting job or keeping one. Where perfectly healthy people have a hard time finding work, how does someone who is physically disabled get their foot in the door and get seriously considered? Do you mind sharing how you were able to keep your writing career going as far as convincing other people/overcoming prejudices that you could do the work?

I don't mean to hijack this thread but because OP is not answering questions about this terrible disease and this is such a big deal to me, here is a link to my AMA about my experiences with Usher Syndrome Type II. Please consider supporting the Foundation Fighting Blindness in developing treatments for retinal degenerations. It is a frustrating disease to have and it is disheartening to see all the general ignorance and cheap humor at its expense.
