And a society where people are allowed to own crickets bats tends to see more violence committed with cricket bats. Duh. That silliness is a common argument against guns but it's meaningless. The question should be, "does the presence of these weapons cause the per capital violence rate (by any means) to go up?" The best predictor of violence is income inequality where the US is worse than most of Europe. On that stat, the US falls right in line with the other countries of the world in terms of violence.

A Mini 14 is a semi auto that shoots exactly the same round just as fast! You can even get the same mag capacity. Is it an "assault weapon?" If not, why not? Do you have a butcher knife? Why do you feel it's necessary to have a "murder knife"? I mean, if you hold it just right, it's perceived as the iconic murder weapon. Does that affect the knife itself or its use? Of course not.

When I was a kid, I saw The Incredible Shrinking Woman and loved it! I think of it every time I see an insinkerator garbage disposal. That looked like a fun scene to shoot, yes?

I listen to your show everyday and I admire your professionalism and preparation! am a typical liberal college professor who atypically owns several firearms. I also teach a class on human bias and irrational behavior. I wrote you once about some misrepresentations of firearms on your show and (understandably) you did not reply. I FEEL like you've got your mind made up on guns and may not be open to new discussions. Is my feeling justified? Why or why not? Thanks! Edit: added more words

In a real fight, does it fucking hurt to get punched or are you so focused on the task at hand (or full of adrenaline) that it doesn't?
