What is the state of current research surrounding desalination? You mentioned in this thread already that it's crazy expensive, but is anyone working to make it more economically viable?

Hello Professor Davies, I am current economics undergraduate but I am also a mathematics major and I really enjoy the quantitative and proof based approach to economics but basic courses don't teach math heavy material and no popular economics books go very indepth in mathematical economic theory. Any book recommendations that don't require the theory of economics at a graduate level but use a lot of math to prove their assertions?

Could you expand upon why you changed your opinion about moral beliefs as personal preferences(tastes)?
