New mexico is 2100 ft deep and is safe. Yucca is in an above ground mountain and is safe. No reason to drill to 10k

No.

You would need to shoot it out at escape velocity which takes much more fuel than something like a satellite launched to LEO. Multiply that by 80,000 tons of waste and it is a pretty daunting cost.

Alternatively it can be buried. The facility is already (mostly) build and ready to accept waste. The cost is negligible. It's been proven safe with 20+ years of research around the site.

In the US you can check out the wiki articles on the new mexico pilot plant and yucca mountain. Both are safe "forever". In New Mexico they even put down markers that would tell somebody not to dig there after humanity ends so they expect it to be safe for a long time.

It's not much different than a regular garbage dump. Every day we bury mercury, lead, and all kinds of other toxic materials from regular household waste in the ground. We expect these to be safe for a long time.

I saw one of your documentaries (dante's peak) and just wanted to say I am a huge fan of the work you guys are doing. What was the hardest part of producing that documentary and getting close up footage like that?
