Erik, what was your first stand-up gig, and how did it go? Favorite joke of the set, and one that you'd rather forget?

So do you ever touch a black man's radio?

I am currently a Masters student studying Urban Planning with a focus on Economic Development and Real Estate Development. My passion is trying to develop working space for people to start food manufacturing businesses, believing that the food industry is one of the only "flat" industries that requires a high eduction to come up with a good product.

Have you conducted any field work on what everyday behavior/spatial use makes an area (and space in a given neighborhood) more facilitating for entrepreneurs? First thing that comes to mind is areas like SoHo or Wicker Park where artists were allowed to live/work in the same space due to blatant disobedience of zoning laws, which were later revised to facilitate these types of uses. The areas they moved into were generally "blighted", and severely under-invested, however the artists' routines and need for "3rd spaces" helped to create retail/commercial opportunities for other entre.

I'd love to know if you have researched space, general everyday life, and reinvestment in blighted areas.

Thanks in advance!

Was there ever a time where you were in fear of your life? An example would be convulsions from being cold, hunger pains, dehydration.
