What is the end goal for these banks? Why are they laundering money? Are nation state actors involved?

What I meant was that is there a further goal besides profits? Is it just a profit for them? Do they have hidden partners? I know it is for profit. I'm just wondering if there is something else. For instance the Bangladesh Bank Robbery was for profit but it was instigated by North Korean military intelligence. It doesn't fit the usual profile for cyber crime either. So that's what I'm asking about.
