I am not sure if I agree that the ACLU hasn't been focusing on the issues you mention, they have been bringing a number of good lawsuits on this matter, latest being ACLU v. Clapper with regard to Verizon metadata court order. They have also issued a number of good statements on these matters, such as the article on Snowden's asylum request.

From those two paragraphs, you can hardly judge. There is an entire page of incidents for the ISS.

Worth noting that for all those incidents, the last Russian astronaut fatality was in 1971. Compare that to the US. (Also, Russian astronauts have spent more time in space than the US, so it is not as if there are less fatalities because US goes to space more.)

Very sorry to hear your friend got that diagnosis.

I am not a doctor but if any doctor is around, is there any really good reason why they don't just go scanning people every 6 months with-in the first years of their remission? I hear "it came back is now in a more serious stage" so often! Doctors have repeatedly assured me that CT scan radiation has been shown to be very low risk in comparison to its benefits even when the suspicion of anything is thin, plus there is MRI that has no radiation at all. Is it just the lack of availability of machines?!

The more neoprene you add, the more weight you need, which means you go through your tank faster.

How's that follow? I get that if it follows it has to be connected to BCD inflation, but you're still only adding enough weight for correct buoyancy so I am not seeing it, please explain.

By the way, any suggestions against sea sickness on boats? Hard to dive out in the ocean for me, meclizine and scopolamine patches do not help.
