I live in Germany and can confirm from the refugees I have met that this is just not true... the people paying so much for smugglers are often spending all the capital they have accumulated over their life time, sometimes over generations. Obviously rich ones exist, but the vast majority of refugees were not even close to wealthy by western standards

Of course, which is why I specified by western standards.. and anyway. Anyway, a lot of these people were poor by the standards of their country of origin. Mostly, I am just disturbed by the resentment I am seeing on this threat for this influx of 'priveledg ed refugees. I am not saying you are guilty of this, but just asking people to do research before making assumptions about the wealth of refugees.
