I attempted this with my 3 year old to no avail. An older man had the middle seat between my son and I. I offered to switch either seat and he declined. "For real" I said and sat their stunned with nothing, then he says he loves kids had a few of his own. "OK fine let's see how this works". Five minutes later he whip out the Book of Mormon. "Mister you are changing seats do you want the aisle or window". Took the window I took the middle (lost) and my boy was hanging in the aisle. Nothing like flying into SLC. Not so perfect but it did work itself out.
