The problem is that it is not like the people only distrust the police on the street. The people are currently at a state of distrust with the police as an institution.

It is not like the general population trusts the justice system on a whole and trusts internal affairs to follow up. In addition, recent actions have shown that this opinion is not totally invalid.

I do not work at a zoo but I have worked at nonprofits for years. We would not name a gallery, wing, or classroom something that would not match our public marketing expectations. So something like the Steve Smith Atrium is fine but the Turd Sandwich Auditorium will not fly.

The reason being is that no matter how much you donate we will need MORE money just to stay open. For the last organization I worked we needed about $100,000 a year just to keep the doors open, even more to run events, do classes, have seminars, ect. So even $1 million dollars wouldn't allow us to make a choice like that.

TL;DR $1 million dollars just does not go as far as one would think.

Edit: checked the Cincinnati Zoo's 990 and they have a yearly budget of about $5 million. So a $1 million donation would keep them open for a little over 2 months.

What can be done about nonviolent offenders? Putting them in jail seems silly but at the same time they did break the law.

Did you ever see any institutional racism (for example, how comparable amounts of crack get you sent to prison longer than cocaine)

How do you feel about how the Adrian Schoolcraft and the NYPD was handled? Do you think that might be a common story?

Thanks for doing the AMA
