don't let any oncologists tell you otherwise

Sorry, but if cancer doctors tell you something about cancer you should listen. Eating well should generally make you healthier, but if doctors tell you something about your health that's not contradicted by other doctors it's probably true.

Hey, if you're getting advice from nutrition experts more power to you. I'm just extra skeptical when I see someone talking about alternative medicine because I have serious issues with it and it's dangerous when people decide they want to forgo scientifically-backed treatments in favor of unconfirmed or disproven treatments.

That said, I appreciate your outlook on the situation as someone who's using it to supplement scientific treatments. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I'll give the opposite advice here - anyone willing to watch a few youtube videos can replace most parts in a decent desktop computer, while laptop parts are much more complex to replace and in some cases impossible to buy.

The reason why a motherboard replacement typically fixes all issues on a laptop is that replacing the motherboard also requires replacing the CPU, so it's equivalent to replacing both the CPU and the motherboard in a desktop. Replacing the motherboard of a laptop will frequently cost nearly as much as buying a new one.

On top of this, an equivalently-priced desktop will typically be significantly faster than it's laptop counterpart. That's great in the short term obviously, but it also means it'll take longer to need to replace the computer if nothing breaks. Desktops are also usually upgradeable in ways that laptops frequently aren't. Almost all desktops have space for an additional hard drive to be added later if you need more space, and if you find yourself needing more RAM you can frequently just add more matching sticks rather than replacing the existing ones, which saves money and helps reduce e-waste. Plus you can keep your peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse) between computers, which reduces the price of future upgrades as well as the percentage of the overall system that gets thrown out when you upgrade.

Laptop parts are also specific to the specific brand and model of laptop, whereas many desktop parts are standardized.

My strong advice is to buy a desktop unless you absolutely need a laptop. Many people do need laptops, and that's fine. If you're using it in the same place every day, though, a desktop will be cheaper, faster, easier to fix, and upgradeable for the future.
