But then isn't God willingly setting up people to fail/be damned? I'm not sure of the Jewish ideas of damnation and Hell, but that seems extremely unjust. It's like designing a video game with sentient characters and choosing favorites, and rewarding your favorites and punishing those who aren't, despite all of them being on a predetermined path.

Do you have any insights on the gender imbalance in STEM fields--especially the physical sciences? It seems like this issue is getting better, but it's still certainly present.

Any advice for getting into science policy making? My career plan was to break into science writing/communication and go from there, but given some of the responses to the top question in the thread about this field being fiercely competitive, I'm wondering if I should take a different route re: graduate school focus.
