Bilal - I printed a larger version of a partial leg (your uncle's? edit: cousin's) for you using a larger machine (Type A Machines) a couple years ago when you were in San Francisco. It's time for me to get back into the OS Hardware/sustainability/makerspace world en force. When's the next time you'll be in San Francisco? I'd love to chat.

(I almost threw my hat in the ring when I saw that /u/dawndanby was looking for marketing help last month, but didn't have time to do the application justice.)

Aww, man. I'm so incredibly sorry to hear that.

I think those Instructable pics are the 1st I've seen of him. I was surprised that I actually recognized his leg from the 3D print (we eventually made several as talking points, but I don't think we were ever able to give one to you as you passed through SF, though I'm sure you had others).

Over a decade ago I was traveling/pitching an OS Hardware database project in places like Purdue & MIT. It was hard to get traction then (mostly due to timing - maker spaces weren't a thing, GitHub didn't exist, there was no Instructables, people thought Wikipedia and service learning were fads, and believed that nobody in Africa would have a cell phone, etc.).

The timing now is more-than-ripe. Looking forward to chatting next month.

Do you need to own one of your own, or do you just need to be able to send in a few samples?

If it's the latter, I might have a connection for you.
