I have been a Certified Surgical Technologist in Nevada for 5 years and am very shocked that a 15 year old can do our job "correctly" but you're right, it's being done in developing countries where there are different standards. But definitely would never be allowed in the states. We are still very strict about allowing even medical students to scrub in surgery because we have strict aseptic technique & liability, therefore I would never trust the surgeon you are working under.

so what are you going to do when you get called in to court on a patient who died from obtaining an infection from the surgery? call your parents? this should be reported to AORN
