Some people certainly do use it for just "gimme money" but a lot of creators will have small offerings like obtaining an item of their creation in advance of public availability. I look at it more as "I love what this person does and I want to make sure it's economically viable for him/her to continue to do it." even if it's just one or two dollars.

Have you thought about opening up a Patreon account so that your fans could continue to help support you on a monthly basis so you can keep doing this incredible work?
