I agree with you and have similar background. When surgeons have multiple patients that they can't save in a given night, or have to deliver "bad news" to particularly difficult family members, it's not fun.

It's part of the job that you've trained most of your life to do, and I think you can get used to it, but I think most experienced surgeons would admit that they have the occasional "bad" or challenging night.
