I was living in the Dallas Texas area and was meeting up with a gal I knew... or so I thought.
After sitting at the bar, waiting for what seemed like hours, I got the dreaded text that she wouldn't be able to make it. I shrugged it off, finished my beer, paid my tab, and headed towards the door. As I approached, there were two gentlemen with what's that all aboot? accents, trying to negotiate a fare with a not-so-friendly cab driver. I was feeling a little loose, and probably shouldn't have been driving but back then, fuck it : young and dumb.
So, I interjected and told them I would drive them anywhere they wanted to go, free of charge. They accepted and off we went.
I asked them where they were going and was told they intended to go back to their room but, if I knew of any good spots for some fun, they were game. Being as I was feeling bold and adventurous, I recommended we go to The Lodge. They were all for it.
3 hours and a few hundred dollars later, it was one of the best times I've ever had with complete strangers. These crazy Canucks were a GREAT time and paid for EVERYTHING that night; dances, drinks, and tips. They were amazing.
I scared 'em a bit on the way back to their hotel doing some not-so-safe vehicular maneuvers but, you know, beer-and-shots.
We parted ways and that was that.
tl;dr - Canadians are friendly amigos with deep pockets, eh.
