I have this too, since I was about 18 or 20 i guess. It is/was on my forearms and around my waist mostly. I had a narrowband UV treatment once a week for a year, and it restored the pigmentation in my arms, but not in my waist.

I didn't do anything about it until I was 30, by which time it had spread quite a bit. If you'd like to remove it I'd recommend going to your dermatologist and getting treatment sooner rather than later. I mean, it's a condition that doesn't really have any bad effects really, it only looks a bit strange and may affect your self-confidence.

I had no idea about it when I was younger, so good on you for finding out about it quickly! :-)

Hi Yuriko! I only just noticed your AMA here, so I'm probably a bit late. Anyway, I'm from UK but I've been living in Japan (Osaka) now for 8 years. Why do you think most Japanese comedians come from Osaka? I hope you perform here someday, but in the meantime good luck with your career in the UK and I hope to see you on some comedy panel shows!
