What is the cringiest thing somebody's said to you when noticing your skin condition?

I loved your use of food in the MaddAddam Trilogy to help define the different worlds that various characters inhabit throughout the story. Your descriptions of the futuristic hyper-processed food of the compounds and pleeblands -- Chickie Nobs, SoyYummie ice cream, monopolistic Happicuppa, they all sound so plausible -- in are perfect opposition to the the gently harvested honey, basement-grown mushrooms, and home-canned goods filling the Ararats of the God's Gardeners. Then in MaddAddam: the VegiVows fall away for Mo'Hair drumsticks and pigoon bacon, with the combination of some old Gardener tactics for basic survival intertwining with the excitement of gleaning a package of intact Oreos.

Where do you draw inspiration for the comestible bits of your world-building, in the MaddAddam Trilogy specifically and in general? Do you enjoy cooking and/or preserving?
