I went to the hangar at Dullas, which is basically a bigger aerospace Smithsonian, and right next to the plane that dropped the nukes is a small Japanese fighter plane. The Japanese man that brought in the plane said that he felt honored to have it kept next to the plane that saved Japan. By this he was referring to the fact that an invasion of Japan would've resulted in significantly more deaths on both sides. So perhaps there is a silver, albeit radioactive, lining to the atomic mushroom cloud.

I'm pretty sure cold steel (the knife company) also makes a high capsaicin spray but it's a foam so it covers a wide area and has long lasting effects. Not sure if it's more effective, but worth looking into.
