I do not see what the problem is? Its not like the average person in the first world consumes twice as much as a third-worlder, and is actively stealing food from them. The EU has been criticized for dumping excess food in African countries and destroying their local farmers. Many first world countries are net food exporters, and most first world countries have like 1-5% of the population working in agriculture, so they could easily double their food production if push came to shove. Third world food production has surged massively due to first world know-how: tractors, wheat GMO strains with massively increased yields, chemical fertilizers, shipping technology, vitamin enriched rice, antibiotics, crop insurance, weather forecasting, petroleum products, etc. There's currently 7 billion third worlders, and there were 1 billion merely 120 years ago. If the first world is oppressing them, its doing an awful job.

I don't think there's a problem with food production or population in the first place if you look at global statistics over time, but if there was indeed a shortage of land, then getting rid of the larger problem (having twice as many mouths to feed as merely a generation or two ago) is perhaps more efficient than trying to force people to eat insects. Either way, the first world population has stayed pretty constant over the last 50 years, and currently contributes like 10% of overall population depending on how you calculate it.
