How are non-heterosexual or atypical sexualities regarded, in general? Would you say most people know at least one openly non-straight person? How equally distributed are open LGBT folk represented in different social classes?

I don't know how the "b" got in there, but it made me laugh for a second, and then I remembered what I was reading, and then I felt bad.
