I used to work in the NHS as IT. We were trying really hard to move paperless (they still are from what I hear) but all the health staff kept ignoring us or resisting us at every step. I thought the health care professionals would be happy that all the relevant people could have all the information they need at the touch of a button. What are your thoughts on this?

I agree that the COWs are very cumbersome but in my hospital we were rolling out tablets to aid with note and such while on the move. The computer crashing is due to terribly implemented systems such as citrix (the thin clients you might use would be called HAS and XENAPP).

Basically what im hearing is paperless will only work if the technology is intuitive, easy to pick up and learn at a glance and easy to transport like tablets instead of COWs

In the uk it would be accessed via VM so the patient information is not stored locally. accessing the patient data locally could be considered a breach in data protection.

I haven't used lorenzo as i was on my way out of the door when it was being rolled out. But from what i remember it was replacing IPM?
