Wouldn't it be incredibly unlikely for us to first hear the signals this century. I mean, the universe is tens of millions of centuries old, so why this century in particular? And if the signals are already "washing over" Earth, wouldn't we have heard them by now?

Is it just a matter of us having developed technology to pick up incredibly faint signals?

Are whitening toothpastes really any different from regular?
