Sex is absolutely not socially constructed. There are exceptions to male and female, and I think gender is more or less what you make of it, but sex is totally biological.

And there is even more variation than that. Also, those 'abnormalities' are totally biological themselves. What everyone needs to understand is that sex evolved. It is a binary mode of reproduction, and that is how it is supposed to operate. There may be mutations, or medical conditions that alter one's sex and/or sexual identity but the use of words like 'mutation' or 'abnormal' should not be viewed as the slightest bit pejorative, and, regardless of your biological identity, you should be free to live as whatever gender or sexual orientation you believe you are, or were meant to be.

I'm afraid you're very mistaken. Sex is purely an evolved way for a species to reproduce. It evolved to operate as a binary. The reason gametes specifically undergo meiosis is because of this binary mode of reproduction. The reason most people are either XY/XX, again, is a consequence of this evolutionary fate. The sexes have been positively selected for (a long time ago) and have since been retained in our phylogeny. What I think you are confused about is the fact that there are several exceptions to this rule, and various conditions that may present and alter one's development (usually some sort of hormonal abnormality). In any of those cases, a grey area is formed, but this by no means proves that sex is not a binary or that the other >95% of people on the planet do not constitute a sexual binary. They do, and the reason we refer to rest as having a 'mutation' or an 'abnormality', is because that's literally the case. When you're born, you're supposed to have either a penis or a vagina along with other secondary characters, and your hormones are supposed to be at certain levels; any two healthy humans of either sex after they've reached sexual maturity will be able to conceive children - and that is the entire point. If you do not fit into one of those categories, you are a biological outlier, but as a person, deserve the same rights, respect and acceptance as anybody else.

Exactly. And, as /u/wandmirk described, they don't know what their sex genes are. They are most likely XX but because of their condition, do not feel they are either male or female, man or woman. In terms of gender, /u/wandmirk identifies as being neither, but biologically they are likely female. In terms of being able to actually reproduce, it might not ever be possible for them, even with hormone supplements, but of course I could be wrong.

Why is it constantly portrayed as a women's issue when more aboriginal men have died or gone missing?
