Just a detail, Aragon and Castilla were NOT united in 1469. They only shared kings, but remained separate entities.

The final union was a couple of centuries later, and by means of violence.

Central Spain (Castilla) has been trying to eliminate the other cultures in the country for all of those 600 years. The conflict is constant. You might not be wrong about the timing, but it has always been there.

EDIT: Yeah, yeah, I get it, you guys are totally not oppressing them.
