I've had this idea for "Mariner's Revenge Song: The Musical" which would be a musical whose narrative is framed by Mariner's Revenge Song, with flashback acts between each act of the song. The acts would include other Decemberists songs like A Cautionary Song, On The Bus Mall, Shanty, Shiny, and others. You can always link things together if you try hard enough!

Follow-up question: How did you come across the story of Edgar Watson for the song E. Watson? It seems like such an obscure footnote in history to write a song about.

You mentioned that at the time it didn't make sense how the accomplice tossed the gun back to the attacker, but you later figured out why he did.
