No he's not. He's consistent.
His comments have all demonstrated his remorse towards what he did, and when one person remarked upon it he said

^You've got it backwards. I haven't changed. I've always been how you see me here.

^The difference between me now and me back then, is just that now I have a lot more tools and knowledge for changing and correcting unwanted behaviors. But they've always been unwanted behaviors.

I think that turning himself in was probably the first big step he took towards pursuing those tools for self correction. Without having turned himself in the whole path to healing would have been more forced than willing. By this he truly does prove that he always has been this person, just now no longer controlled by his demons or whatever you want to call the dark impulses.
