For those who don't know: Preet Bharara is the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and will be auctioning off the bitcoins seized from the closure of Silkroad

Again I'm surprised you hadn't investigated multi-signature transactions before. They allow more secure services to be built using bitcoin but they also have the potential to create some large legal headaches.

There are also protocol proposals which would allow people to send bitcoin without knowing how the bitcoins they sent are going to be redeemed. This allows the recipient to setup a payment involving muti-signatures or other conditions without the sender of the bitcoins knowing. Again legally this could create problems.

To be able to regulate bitcoin well I believe you need to have a very good knowledge of the capabilities and possible future capabilities of the underlying technology.

I find this a little strange. If you can try something, isn't it better to do so if you are regulating it. If I was regulating self-driving cars, I'd want to take a drive in a self-driving car. Have you tried using bitcoin at all? And if not why not?

Agreed, I meant buying bitcoin not as an investment but to see how it works.

How do you measure the distance accurately on the treadmill? Most treadmills I know are a few % off.
